FAQ

Questions we hear often

A neglected WordPress install typically goes from 5–6 seconds down to 1.5–2. We give an exact figure after measuring.

Speed is one ranking factor, particularly on mobile.

We take a full copy before starting. If anything goes wrong we roll back in minutes.

In detail

Website speed optimisation

A slow site loses visitors before they ever see the offer. Someone on mobile data closes the tab before it finishes loading, and no amount of design matters after that. Search engines treat speed as a ranking factor too, particularly on mobile.

Where the delay comes from

There is rarely a single cause. Most often it is heavy images uploaded without compression, a dozen plugins each pulling their own styles and scripts, no caching at all, and a bloated database full of revisions, spam and leftovers from removed extensions.

How the work runs

  • We measure current figures on key pages and device types
  • We produce a plan: what is slowing things down and how many seconds each fix returns
  • We compress images and convert them to modern formats
  • We remove unnecessary scripts and set up caching and a CDN
  • We bring Core Web Vitals into the green
  • We send a before and after report using the same tools as at the start

We always take a full copy of the site before starting. If anything goes wrong, the previous state is back within minutes.
